A Kiribati vessel may also have its registration suspended and be Bareboat chartered-out to another registry in the name of the Bareboat Charterers.

Procedure for Bareboat Charter-Out Registration

Original documents required:

• Application Form K4
• Certified Copy of Bareboat Charter Agreement
• Certificate of Registry issued to the vessel by the Kiribati Ship Registry
• Written Consent of the Registered Mortgagee(s) if applicable

The Registration of the vessel is suspended for 2 years, and can be extended upon application. During this period, mortgages may still be recorded in the register, and the annual tonnage tax remains payable.
