A vessel is first provisionally registered before it is transferred to the permanent register.

No additional fees are charged for the transfer from Provisional status to Permanent status except for adjustment in the fees due to differences in the final tonnage figures.

The provisional Certificate is valid for a maximum period of 6 months and may be extended upon application.

Provisional Registration

Documents to be submitted via fax/email:

  • Application Form K1
  • Declaration of Ownership Form K2
  • Accounting Authority Appointment Letter (if applicable)
  • Owner’s Certificate of Good Standing
  • Notarised Copy of Owners’ Representative passport

Certificates to be submitted:

  • Notarised Bill of Sale (BOS) or Builder's Certificate (for new vessels)
  • Existing Certificate of Registry
  • Existing Min. Safe Manning (if applicable)
  • Existing Ship Radio Station Licence (if applicable)
  • Existing Continuous Synopsis Record file (if applicable)
  • Existing International Tonnage Certificate
  • Existing SOLAS Certificates (where applicable)
  • Existing MARPOL Certificates (where applicable)
  • Existing Load Line Certificate (if applicable)

The following certificates will be issued upon confirmation that application is in order and receipt of payment:

  • Provisional Certificate of Registry
  • Provisional Minimum Safe Manning Certificate (if required)
  • Provisional Ship Station Licence (if required)
  • Continuous Synopsis Record (if applicable)
The Provisional registration is valid for 6 months and may be extended upon application.

Permanent Registration

Original Documents to be submitted:

  • Application Form K1
  • Declaration of Ownership Form K2

Original Certificates to be submitted:

  • BNotarised Bill of Sale (BOS) or Builder's Certificate (for new vessels) - will be returned to the owner after sighting by the Registrar
  • Deletion Certificate from the previous registry (if applicable)
  • Closure Continuous Synopsis Record from previous registry (if applicable)
  • Proof of 3rd party liability insurance coverage

A copy of the following Certificates issued by the authorised classification societies should be submitted as well:

  • International Tonnage Certificate
  • SOLAS Certificates (where applicable)
  • MARPOL Certificates (where applicable)
  • International Load Line Certificate (if applicable)

The Registry will issue the following certificates after confirming that all of the above is in order:

  • Permanent Certificate of Registry
  • Permanent Minimum Safe Manning Certificate (if required)
  • Permanent Ship Station Licence (if required)
  • Continuous Synopsis Record (if required)
